SRVO-215: Brake Unit fuse blown

The fuse on the brake unit (or local stop unit, if fitted) for the numbered amplifier has blown.

What it means

The fuse on the brake unit (or local stop unit, if fitted) for the numbered amplifier has blown. FANUC's remedy order is telling: replace the brake CABLE first - a defective cable is the usual fuse-killer.

Common causes

Ranked by what technicians most often find, most likely first.

  1. Defective brake cable shorting and blowing the fuse - FANUC's first suspect.
  2. Local stop unit fuse (if one is used).
  3. The aux-axis amplifier type/number misconfiguration.

How to fix it

  1. Replace the brake cable FIRST, then the fuse - replacing only the fuse invites a repeat.
  2. Check the aux-axis amplifier type/number settings.
  3. Details per the Auxiliary Axis Option Maintenance Manual. Keep personnel clear of gravity-loaded axes while the brake circuit is in question - support axes mechanically before service.
